Mr Clingy!

Nate has started the whole separation anxiety phase for sure! And the parents have started the guilt phase that goes along with it. He's very verbal about letting us know if he wants picked up and clings to our legs if he doesn't want us to go away. Well...at least he knows who his mommy and daddy are for sure now, so in ways its kinda cute :)

We're once again trying to get over colds that seem to happen monthly. However...God has blessed us and has waved "Sleep Sprinkles" over our dear Nathan, as the last three or four nights he has slept through! Bless the heavens! And maybe the humidifier too.

He just had his 1 yr checkup. He's a tall boy for his age, though the doctor would have liked to see him a little chunkier. He's also been okayed to drop the bottle and start on whole milk, but since one of my posts a while ago he still has not warmed up to solid foods yet. In fact, he still isn't eating too much of his jar food either. I try to encourage everything everyday but not making progress yet. I have tons of kinds of different crackers,bars,etc. I bought some Yo Baby yogurt and tried it as well. All we can get down him is his formula, though I'm starting to sneak in some whole milk too. The dr mentioned that by his next checkup in three months, if he isn't eating solid foods by then that he will need to see a feeding specialist. Ugh! He usually gobbles his jar food up so I'd like to contribute teething and being sick to his not eating that at the moment. His teeth that were coming in a while ago are pretty much fully out now!

Thats the latest. Here's to hoping the little guy warms up to food soon!

Nate's Birthday on TV

Birthday Boy

Nate had a great birthday party this past weekend with family and close friends. He was fascinated with the balloons, and loved his monkey cake I made (didn't quite feel too confident doing the alligator). All turned out well. He's enjoying playing with all his new toys.

Today, his actual birthday, we had a playdate with some friends of his at a park, followed by brunch with Nana and Aunt Kristen, went to the mall to Build-A-Bear and got to play with some favorite toys at Barnes and Noble. He had quite the busy day!

Still teething (what else is new,right?) He now faces forward in his car seat. He can probably start drinking cow's milk and eating any kind of solid food he wants to pretty much, but I'm predicting that will be a while yet. Especially when he's teething,all he wants is his formula, he won't even touch baby food. Calorie wise he's probably best to continue what he's doing yet, I'm too afraid he'll lose weight! We have some baby friends and relatives where this is a problem so until I think Nate has developed a strong relationship with "adult food and beverages", he's going to be a baby a while longer yet!

First Steps!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Nate has taken his first few steps without holding onto anything. He only takes about two-three before he tumbles over. Yikes! His teething seems to be better...for today anyway :) Getting ready for his birthday party this weekend with family and close friends so I'll be posting pictures next week. Have a good one!

Those Painful Teeth!

For the last week or so Nate's been sleeping good at night, but has started teething once again. Looked up at his top teeth and he has I think 4-5 coming in! Maybe once he has more teeth he'll be up for more solid foods, right now he likes to suck/munch on bread type things like english muffins and pizza crust. He still prefers his formula and fruit/veggie jar food (none of that thick lasagna or meat things, yuck!)

His newest favorite activities are playing with the dog's food dish and water dish, checking whats in the fridge, and taking things out of the garbage can (yeah very ewww...especially when he puts it in his mouth!) No walking shoes yet. He's still moving faster and faster in every way though!

Tis all thats new for now!

Gettin' There...

Nate is finally over his sickness, but now teething has washed in! He only has his two bottom teeth so that leaves the door wide open for teething issues I suppose :) Hopefully we have found a teething gel that just might do the trick, for now anyway. He's been waking up frequently at night I think for this reason. We'll see as time goes on some more! His naps have been a little sporatic lately but I think thats getting better too. He only takes one now a day.

We're starting to make plans for his first birthday in another month! Very excited. Im actually going to attempt to make an alligator cake to go along with his zoo theme (one of his favorite Field Day trips!)

Sick Nate

Hope everyone had a good holiday and New Years! Christmas was good, Nate was into looking at all the presents and is playing with everything he got. However...the next day we left for our vacation in Sedona and Nate got sick :( I'm blaming it on the chilly weather and the snow! (yeah we Arizonans got to see it actually snow! First time in AZ I've ever seen it) Still even now he is sick with a cold as well as an ear infection and croup. Not a happy camper! He's having screaming tantrums, hates taking the antibx (even though I got them flavored! MAJOR bummer!) and isn't sleeping well really at all. We ended up leaving for home early from vacation so he could be in his own bed and familiar surroundings. Unhappy child=unhappy parents though so there wasn't much point in sticking around! Bad timing.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us that he gets better soon, almost a week being sick. It's starting to really bum me out, nothing makes him happy. We spent New Years at home...passed out by midnight since Nate was sleeping. Oh well. Happy Holidays!

Had a quick second to make a photo album with some recent pictures of Nate (ok, so the album from Smilebox was reminding me of our vacation in a few days...oh it looks so nice!) I think the biggest news update is that Nate is now drinking from a sippy cup! Only have him doing it once a day...we patiently waited until he had enough practice with an empty sippy before moving on to one with liquid. He's also back to sleeping mostly through the night (once mom figured out that he was cold--unless it happens to be coincidence that we've just been keeping him busier lately!)

Meeting Santa Part II

Nate did better meeting Santa for his second time. He actually looked at the camera :) I saw with children around a year and a half or so though that they don't like Santa (the whole scream/cry fiasco) so maybe next year we'll just watch other kids greeting Santa!

Its hard to believe that Christmas is just about a week away (and then just about a week away from being over!) Very excited for the holiday and for our vacation the day afterwards-we're heading to our fav northern Arizona spot, Sedona, for a few nights. The whole gang (including the dog,Lily) is going along this time. We rented a cabin in a canyon (think creeks and pine trees) so we're anxious to see some snow (and hopefully watch it fall!) Daddy has off from that time through New Years so it will be really nice to be altogether.

Nate crawls at super speed now (one minute he's in the room, turn around and then he isn't). He can also stand up on his own,without support for a few seconds (as each week has been going on its been longer and longer). He enjoys following all of us around the house. So I'm increasingly becoming more active : )

Meeting St. Nick

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! We had both families over for the holiday and it turned out really well.

Nate got to meet Santa Claus last week at Zoolights (our zoo in Phoenix is decorated with Christmas lights). He loved watching the dancing trees and wasn't scared of Santa at all. He was very fascinated with Santa's beard : ) We couldn't get him to look at the camera as he was focused on Santa's face the whole time. It was cute and funny. I'm sure he might encounter him again yet before Christmas gets here.

On that note, we're very excited for Nate to experience his first Christmas. Personally it's my favorite holiday of the year so I'm super stoked to live everything through his eyes (which includes writing a letter to Santa and leaving out cookies and milk--the whole deal!) At just about 10 months old, he's starting to cruise around furniture more so he may be close to walking at that time. He does like looking at Christmas trees with the lights, so once we get our live tree the parents will have fun trying to pull Nate out of it : ) Oh well, it only comes once a year!
