September Pinterest (and other fun!)

As promised, here is our monthly post with pictures from Pinterest inspired projects! ;) And a few other misc ones, too...

We made a Fall Bucket List - filled with all sorts of things we want to do in October/November, such as : donating to a food bank, hayride, picnic in the playhouse, baking pumpkin pie, go to a pumpkin patch,etc.

As Nate is happily demonstrating, we are beginning to get cooler weather in the mornings and evenings some! 

 

 

And, someone has been wanting to wear underwear and use the big potty this month!!

Yep, saved the biggest picture news for last! This last month in particular, Aaron has been interested in using the big potty/wearing underwear/taking off his shorts and diaper constantly, especially after he's gone in it. Not continuously yet, but when he's "in the mood" for it. No bribing on our part, just cheers when he's done and he gets the biggest smile. It probably helps that he likes to flush the toilet too, so he gets excited to do that when he's done. We'll see...I might try staying home for a few days in another month or so and see if it's something he's getting more serious about. But for now, with Fall Break and Nate home for 2.5 weeks, I'd rather not mess with it :) Happy fall! We're certainly happy that it means temperatures will be cooling off, if only a little bit...

 

Fall Family Pictures

Hooray! We just got back our Fall Family Pictures we had taken a few weeks ago. Trying to decide which family one we like best to put on holiday cards, but I think we want to get copies of both pictures of the boys together. We had them taken at The Grove which had a bunch of lined trees. Aaron discovered some lemons laying around and wouldn't let go of them! So, you'll catch them below ;) (pardon the photographer trademark..)

 

 

 

 

Soccer Mom --- And Coach !

This past weekend was Nate's first soccer practice and game! He was really excited, even more so when he found out that his best buddy Braedan was also going to be on his team. He very anxiously put on his uniform after breakfast and couldn't wait to go.

Adding to the excitement is that I am head coach of Nate's soccer team! A little over a month ago the league announced that they were in desperate need of coaches (the organization is totally volunteer based). Not wanting to see Nate's team without a coach, I volunteered myself (a bit reluctantly, since I don't know much about soccer!) So I've spent the last month taking courses, passing tests, etc to qualify and be coach. I was happy Saturday when it seemed like the kids had fun and the parents seemed happy. All that matters!

We lost our first game. Most of the kids haven't played before, so we're still trying to get into the groove of things. It was a good effort!

Our session will last another nine weeks, until the end of November every Saturday morning. So I have many more weeks of practice planning :)

Volunteer work has  revved up to full gear...starting this week I'll be going into Nate's class once a month for Art Masterpiece (explaining a piece of artwork, then passing out materials for the kids to duplicate). It's sad because this is really their only "art class" sort of time anymore. I've also been asked by Nate's teacher to come in, weekly if I want to, to help in class. I'm not a PTO board member but I'm trying to attend all the PTO meetings to see if there's events or other activities I can help out with.

On Sunday mornings now Nate has started back up with Sunday School at our church, so our weekend mornings are busy.

Only two more weeks of school left before Fall Break starts! I think we're all looking forward to getting out of our heat and schedule a bit.

Little Bathroom Touch-Up

I love when small changes can make a difference! In this case, I'd say we spent ~$50 to add a new theme and some pictures to the boys' bathroom. You'll see what I mean...I was ready for a change.
